Built on a legacy of meticulous field notes.

There was a stretch of the last century when chasing big fish and studying them were the same act. Michael Lerner ran fishing expeditions with the American Museum of Natural History. Francesca LaMonte, the museum’s own ichthyologist, kept the records and edited the science. Van Campen Heilner wrote the era’s classic on saltwater.

And men like Zane Grey and Ernest Hemingway moved across all of it. Brook trout in cold creeks, then blue water when it called them. No fish too small to kneel for, none too large to chase.

This line follows that same arc, headwater to blue water and back again.

More legend than biography.

This is a tribute to the fish they chased, and the ways we still pursue them.
